I have been reading the book “The Gauntlet”. The part I read today intrigued me. It made me feel curious to know what happens next. It made me feel this way because Farah’s little brother Ahmad got transported into the game and can’t get out. So Farah has to enter the game with her friends in order to complete the challenges, shutdown the game, and ultimately, save Ahmad. There is a big problem though, If they fail the challenges, they will be stuck in the game forever.
Robotics Competition!!!
I am captain of the robotics team. Half of us are rookies, and the other half are veterans. We are all nervous for our next tournament. One of the activities was core values. Core values is the way we treat each other and work as a team under pressure. We do fun activities like when we blind folded somebody and we directed them from one corner of a small human sized board game to the other. If the blindfolded person steps on a certain shape, they do an action like jumping or spinning. There is also the research project. This is where we have our project and we go into a classroom-sized building and present it to judges. This year, we were given a challenge to identify a problem in the human water cycle, and find a way to improve it. The ways we find, transport, use, or dispose of water. We chose how we use and dispose of water. Our project was to filter and reuse water by pumping it through a filter. Last but not least, we have the robot! The first thing that we do with the robot is go for robot inspection, that is where we have our robot looked over to make sure we don’t have any illegal parts on it that are not from the brand LEGO. Then we go to robot design, where we show judges our robot with its attachments and show them how it works. After that, the pressure is on as we go to a big room to run the robot. With many people watching, we get very nervous. Before the tournament, we program the robot to do certain tasks with its attachments. We find the program press the button, and it does it all on its own! I think it is a great experience and it is super fun! Also My team has a tournament on Sunday, so wish us luck!
Reading Response
I am reading the book Lost in Outer Space. It is a story about the journey of Apollo 13. I think that the most important event in the book is when something went wrong with the spaceship. I think that event really stirred up the story and made it take a dramatic turn for bad. I feel that event started the book’s way to the climax. Now the best part of the story is coming. With the famous phrase, “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” will this story end tragically or will the astronauts come home safely?
About Me
Hi, my name is Daeven and I am just a simple ordinary sixth grader that loves to play video games and does his homework. I have a mom, a dad, and an annoying little brother named Dhilan. He is only seven. But not everything about me is normal, and that is what I am going to tell you about today. I was world champion for my rank at karate. Karate is not just kicking and punching though. Ahat I competed in was forms. Forms are a sequence of movements that I had to remember and do with the right technique in front of lots of people. I used to play piano and now I play guitar.
I have other hobbies too. My favorite is to collect and duel with Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Yu-Gi-Oh is a game of strategy and quick thinking. The objective is to reduce your opponents life points to zero. I also love to draw. I draw whatever comes to my mind. From a giant fly to a dragon! I also love to stare at nothing and just think about random things like,”Why does extraordinary mean something crazy and great? Ordinary is like the word normal, right? So if someone or something is extra-ordinary, doesn’t that mean that the thing is extra-normal? Makes no sense.
I love to eat pizza. Well… I used to. Until i couldn’t eat it any more, too much dairy is not good for me now. I really don’t want to share why. Now, I like burgers and pasta. I like to play strategy and board games with my family. Sometimes we have movie nights. My favorite movie is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. My favorite vacation trip was when I went to London and Paris. My favorite holiday is Christmas. My favorite school subject is science. I love to record research and conduct experiments. I am also captain of the robotics team. I program and help build the robot. These are things that you should know about me.
Reading Response: Restart
I read a book called Restart. In my opinion, the ending went really well for the main character, Chase. I really liked the ending too. I feel like it was a good way to wrap up the book and and give it an emotionally moving ending. I liked the book’s ending because the main character was respected and got what he deserved and everything was back to how it should have been. Well, except Chase, since he fell on his head. Now he is nicer and not friends with the old, mean bullies. He is back at his football career and doing fine in school. The school is now a much better place with the “new” Chase in town.
Restart Response
I finished the book Restart. The main character is Chase. In my reading, the book showed Chase as a friendly guy. He used to be super popular and somewhat of a bully. That was before the accident. The accident was that he was sitting on his roof, and fell off. He got amnesia and had to “restart” his life. Now he is different and is helping people he totally wouldn’t have helped before. He participates in video club and the football team. He helps elderly people and is finding new friends. Everybody likes the “new” Chase. Even Chase does.
Reading Response
Today I read “Confronting the Dragon” by Mark Cheverton. This is the third book in a series called Gameknight999 series. The series is about a kid who got sucked into Minecraft by his father’s invention, the digitizer. In my reading today, Gameknight found one of the keys to the Source, the Iron Rose. The Source is a portal from Minecraft to the outside world. It is Gameknight’s duty to protect the Source from monsters. He has found the portal that will lead him to the Source. But inside the portal, there is a dreadful monster, with eyes of purple… a dragon!
